The Great Achievers Network (GAN) on 28th October, 2023 held a girls’ conference under the theme “Keeping the Girls in School”.
The main aim of this conference was to support the less privileged girls from schools in Garden, Mandevu, Chaisa, Chibolya and Matero communities with school supplies such as books, bags, pens, socks and other needed items. This important initiative was launched by the Great Achievers Network in 2024 in our continued quest to enable young girls to experience and access quality education no matter their background.
The conference was made possible through the kind and generous support of Standard Chartered Bank Zambia, who donated school bags, books, pens and socks for 200 girls. Because of this wonderful partnership, 200 girls from Yotam Muleya, Chaisa, Chibolya and Matero Girls Secondary Schools were greatly impacted in their education journey. These gifts removed a heavy burden from many families and gave the girls everything they needed to attend school comfortably and focus on their studies.
The conference was officiated by Mr. Kateke, an officer from the Lusaka District Education Office. He was very impressed with the good gesture shown by both GAN and Standard Chartered Bank Zambia for partnering with the government in making sure that less privileged girls in our communities are given a real opportunity to enjoy quality education through such donations. In his speech, he encouraged all the girls to remain focused on their education and to take full advantage of the support they had received.
Pastor Peter Njovu from Living Epistles Church also spoke and exhorted the girls to serve God while they are still young. He reminded them that no one is ever too young to work for God and to live a life that honours Him. His message touched many hearts and gave the girls strength to face the different challenges of life.
The conference was a huge success! The young girls did not only go home with school supplies, but they also carried home valuable wisdom, encouragement and motivation on how to live well and keep themselves safe in this world full of challenges.
We thank Standard Chartered Bank Zambia once again for believing in this vision and for helping us touch the lives of 200 precious girls. Together, we are keeping more girls in school and giving them hope for a brighter future.
